SOC LLC Materials Handler II - Columbus, OH Quality in Columbus, Ohio

Materials Handler II needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client to work in Columbus, OH. Description: Intermediate level position assigned to perform activities related to material receiving, kitting, warehousing and shipping. Responsible for a safe, efficient and organized shipping operation with a focus on the adherence to applicable Battelle policy and state, federal and international regulations (e.g. handling hazardous materials, international customs, controlled substances, etc.). Duties: This position works with contracted staff and resolves problems with inbound and outbound shipments. Performs routine unloading, sorting and packing of incoming materials (mail, supplies, etc.). Stocks material in appropriate locations. Kits job orders and delivers to the manufacturing floor. Performs inventory cycle counts and inventory counts. Prepares products for shipping and performs shipping of products to clients. Independently identifies and resolves low impact issues. Assists with the prioritizing of daily inbound and outbound traffic issues using all modes of transportation. Unloads and processes all inbound deliveries. Provides certified shipping service for all modes of transport. Sources carriers and negotiates shipping modes and rates. Assists in resolving transportation freight claims for damages and shortages of incoming and outgoing shipments. Handles supply inventory, vehicle and material handling maintenance records, and tracking of accountable receipts and shipments with storage or additional handling requirements. Qualifications: Three years of related experience. Good oral and written communication skills. Good computer skills including MS Windows and Office. Ability to learn and use online material tracking tools. Ability to follow business processes, provide guidance to less experienced personnel and operate with general direction from more senior employees. Certified operator of pallet jacks and forklifts with the ability to train less experienced personnel. Operating knowledge of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet movers, and various sized trucks. Attention to detail. Ability to work overtime with 24 hours' notice. US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance(s). May require knowledge and certification of air and ground transportation regulations, hazardous materials, and radioactive safety procedures. May require ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation Commercial Driver's License with hazardous material endorsement. May require ability to continuously bend, lift, and transport up to 100 pounds during the work shift. May require ability to stand and walk up to 50% of the work shift.
