WM Executive Compensation Consultant in Columbus, Ohio

I. Job Summary

The Executive Compensation Consultant is a recognized subject matter expert who plays a key role in designing, implementing, and managing WM's Executive Compensation programs and initiatives. They will be the key partner with Finance and Legal in recommending program design changes and providing extensive modeling. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in executive compensation, solid financial acumen, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of executive compensation principles and practices.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with finance, accounting, and legal departments to provided benchmarking, budgeting, modeling, and reporting.

  • Demonstrate a highly specialized level of expertise/knowledge of executive compensation program design that aligns to business strategies and goals as well as shareholder expectations.

  • Integrate business needs to identify and develop innovative, well-conceived and appropriate design recommendations to align with company strategy.

  • Benchmark peer company programs and program designs, including performance-based programs and prevailing market practices by analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.

  • Evaluates changes to existing plans related to executive pay structure and organization-wide compensation structures.

  • Develops and prepares materials and related content for Senior Management, Compensation Committee meetings, CD&A/proxy statement and other relevant disclosure materials.

  • Conducts research and analysis related to publicly filed information (e.g., Proxy, 10-K, Form 4 filings).

  • Oversees the development and administration of STI plans, including the modeling, budgeting/forecasting and payout.

  • Partner across the business, launching comprehensive STI and equity compensation employee education and enablement tools.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports and recommendations to senior management based on findings from compensation analyses.

  • May assist in the design, development, and implementation of other compensation programs and initiatives, including base pay structures, incentive plans, and recognition programs.

III. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the US.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (accredited) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. High School Diploma (or GED accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience required.

  • Experience: 7 years in compensation analysis, design, and administration, preferably in a corporate HR environment (in addition to education requirement) required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred upon hire.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

  • Knowledge of executive compensation, such as incentive compensation, equity compensation valuation, and regulatory governance

  • Analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data from multiple sources.

  • Compensation benchmarking tools, HRIS systems, and advanced Excel skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $130,000.00- $170,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
