JOB DESCRIPTION

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of remote work and in-office reporting), with the coordination and approval of the appropriate supervisor. The position is located in and will report out of Columbus, OH.

Position Title: Director of Energy Accounting & Reporting

Reports To: Vice President of Financial Planning & Settlement Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Basic Functions: Supervises energy settlement operations, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, variance and trend analyses, ad hoc reporting and analysis, and financial modeling. Cultivates, engages, fosters, and maintains exceptional working relationships with member communities.

Essential Functions:

  1. Implements and maintains energy operations accounting systems and related billing procedures as established by contracts, agreements, and general industry standards.

  2. Oversees operation of invoicing programs, ensures resolution of disputed account balances.

  3. Directs energy billing and settlement arrangements with suppliers, joint venture projects and purchasers.

  4. Works with energy operations and accounting staff to review and reconcile energy purchases and sales.

  5. Coordinates and meets all contract time limits, payment dates and penalties.

  6. Assists with contract administration for AMP and joint venture projects.

  7. Supervises energy accounting staff.

  8. Oversees the preparation of the monthly contract reminder report.

  9. Assists with the development of the annual budget, including project rates.

  10. Assists with monitoring, analyzing, and projecting financial results across multiple projects and entities.

  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

  1. A four-year engineering, accounting, or business-related degree is required.

  2. A background in billing or power dispatching is preferred.

  3. A background in financial planning and analysis and budgeting is preferred.

  4. Must be proficient with Excel and be familiar with the operation of the data processing programs for billing.

  5. Must be able to detect a system or programming problem.

  6. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  7. Must possess the mathematical ability necessary to perform the billing process.

  8. Must be highly accurate and detail oriented.
