JOB TITLE: Sr. Controls Engineer - Assembly (SG 25)

Requisition Summary

Supports electrical and automation control systems development, implementation, and troubleshooting in Assembly. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical, robotic, and PLC automation equipment to improve uptime and reliability.

  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes as necessary

  • Solicits bids to improve or replace existing process equipment, selects suppliers, and coordinates activities with internal departments.

  • Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule, ensuring that the vendors follows Engine Plant Safety, Electrical, and Automation standards

  • Coordinates and supervises major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities.

  • Leads and Mentors others through troubleshooting, equipment design, and automation development

  • Maintains necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as necessary

  • Manages Supplier execution and project schedules for new process equipment and verifies machine design documentation is detailed and accurate.

  • Continuous improvement working with IT department and integrated process monitoring systems

  • Follow plant’s standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards.

  • Prepare, manage and implement capital budget projects. Support Six Sigma projects

  • Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or an equivalent Bachelors's Degree in a technical field is required

  • Masters Science in Engineering or MBA, preferred

  • Minimum 7 years of automation experience is required, preferred in Manufacturing Environment

  • Extensive Knowledge using Siemens PLC products, and TIA Portal experience required

  • Familiar with risk assessments and safety evaluation

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with the flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements

  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes is required. Knowledge of mechanical and safety codes preferred

  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profinet, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus

  • Experience with FANUC Robots, FANUC Vision, Cognex Vision, and Atlas Copco tools is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics

  • Exceptional computer literacy. Microsoft and AutoCAD desired
