Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $ 15 / hour

What you'll be doing as a Asphalt Laborer

  • Shovels dirt, stone and rubble from paving areas and prepares areas to grade, spreads asphalt by hand shovel and hand tamps where necessary, turns hand wheels to raise or lower screeds.

  • Guides and directs dump trucks while backing up to paving machine hopper, receives and accumulates truck delivery tickets, sets out barricades, sets string line for alignment and grades and cuts joints.

  • May perform other related duties, including but not limited to maintenance of asphalt finishing machine and adding or removing screed extensions. 

Available shifts:

Shift timings - 1st shift (Day)

Job requirements: 

  • Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.

  • Requires regular lifting of 25 to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of 100 pounds.

  • Uses tools such as shovel, hand tamp, motorized tamp, hand roller and impact tools.

  • Walking and standing each occupy 50 percent of the work day.

  • Overtime work is required.

  • May be exposed to extremes of hot, cold, wet, dry and dusty weather.

  • Requires riding to and from job sites.

  • May be required to operate power broom and/or box tractor.

  • May be required to have a valid driver's license and meet requirements of APAC Drivers Qualification Standards.

  • Must also meet requirements of General Laborer.

  • The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

  • Background check and drug screening required
