Description

We are looking for a talented Purchasing and Supply Continuity Specialis t to join our #Accelera by Cummins business unit located at our Columbus, Indiana site.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Procures goods and services and executes buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon goods and services plans at the optimum cost, quality and delivery.

  • Conducts complex analysis of sourcing information and presents findings to purchasing and supply chain leadership for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining high quality product and service delivery.

  • Procurement of services, inventory items, supplies, and capital goods.

  • Analyzes complex sourcing and purchasing initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goods and services. Manages regional commodities aligned to global category structure.

  • Prepares and presents recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to senior buying/sourcing leadership.

  • Evaluates consistent application of buying/sourcing procedures and processes.Supports buying/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building.

  • Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced team members.Negotiates within the pre-approved alternative language framework.

  • Develop effective relationships with suppliers aligned to Category Partner Lists.

  • Executes Tactical Sourcing, Rapid Sources and Ebids within a country or countries within the region.

Qualifications

  • Purchasing Policies, Procedures, Tools - Complies with purchasing policies and procedures and complies with them in daily work; leverages tools to conduct procurement initiatives; assesses documents for clarification and seeks guidance for clarification of the information needed.

  • Source to Pay Principles - Leverages key principles of the Source to Pay process to smoothly execute sourcing decisions, order placement, material/service acquisition and on-time payment of Suppliers.

  • Sourcing - Utilizes the purchasing functional system to support the Request For Quote process and establish a Total Cost of Ownership comparison of suppliers based on the category strategy and define the supplier that is most likely to meet Cummins and customer's needs.

  • Supplier Performance Management - Leverages functional roles and responsibilities to appropriately manage supplier performance; negotiates defined metrics and supplier management processes to ensure robust management by all functional stakeholders; assimilates cross-functional, cross-site performance data across geographies; ensures suppliers awareness to performance deficiencies and communicates Cummins expectations relative to continuous improvement.

  • Supplier Tooling Management - Manages supplier tooling strategy by noting the impact on Total Value Performance throughout the product life cycle to accurate piece price, leverages Cummins-owned tooling procedure and ensures continuance of supply from that supplier or another by use of that specific tooling, by using proper Letters of Intent and bailment agreements; tracks and maintains inventory of which tooling Cummins has paid for and owns.

  • Supply Base Risk Management - Minimizes supplier risk to Cummins by proactively mitigating risks through use of risk analysis tools and risk mitigation playbook to manage three key risks including continuity of supply, reputational risk, and risk to our margins of parts by minimizing disruption and services throughout supply chain; manages and leverages supplier selection and dual sourcing opportunities as a first line of defense against supplier risk.

  • Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule and resources for a temporary effort (a "project").

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in supply chain management or a related subject required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience required

  • Experience in purchasing, quality and supply chain

  • Conduct supplier capacity assessments to proactively identify supply risks

  • Manage and improve supplier on time delivery performance. Use problem solving skills for root cause analysis

  • Onsite supplier support and issue resolution in event of throughput disruption.

Base salary range: 74,800 - 112,000

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
