Description

We are looking for a talented Emissions Engineer to join our team specializing in engineering for our corporate business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

-Utilize principles of fluid dynamics and heat transfer to interpret and predict the performance of fluid and thermal systems.

-Apply principles of thermodynamics and energy conversion systems to interpret and predict the performance of energy conversion systems such as IC engines, gas turbines, fuel cells, and batteries.

-Lead product failure mode avoidance efforts by identifying potential failure modes, causes, and implementing solutions to enhance product reliability.

-Impact product design decisions through modeling, simulation, and analysis of product functions relative to system requirements.

-Solve complex product problems by implementing robust, data-based solutions and identifying systemic root causes to prevent problem recurrence.

-Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements, establish acceptance criteria, and track requirements throughout the system lifecycle.

-Define systems of interest, analyze linkages and interactions, and devise modifications to produce desired effects through systems thinking.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

Education & Experience:

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Proficiency in tools such as GT-Suite, Boost, Fluent, Converge, CyberApps, and Cummins Data Analysis Tool (CDAT).

Strong understanding of principles of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and energy conversion systems.

Experience in product failure mode avoidance, problem-solving, and systems engineering.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects, work cross-functionally, and drive results in a complex engineering environment.

Additional Job Details:

You’ll be the “process owner” for three related processes of identifying/evaluating features that need to be documented in our agency submitted AECD packages, as well as tracked by our ECM SW for reporting to the agencies.

  • AECD Discovery Process: Identifying / tracking / prioritizing features for disclosure in AECD documentation packages which are disclosed to EPA and CARB

  • EI-AECD and Active Technology Process: Identifying / tracking features that require ECM SW changes to track and report their utilization to CARB

Project leadership / visibility:

This role provides you opportunities to showcase your presentation and project management skills to leaders within PCRA. You’ll have the opportunity to grow/influence where the ADP project / your work goes and grows. You can just “do” the day to day work … or you can demonstrate your ability to lead the project and improve the process efficiency by helping the broader PCRA organization to be more effective at a larger chunk of “our” collective deliverables.

Technical:

This role will expand your knowledge of essentially all aspects of the emission control system, including Fuel Systems, Air-handling systems, Base engine controls, DOC/DPF/regens, SCR and thermal management, and all emerging technologies.

Position-specific skills needed include :

  • Project Leadership: E.g., Ability to lead projects/influence others...even if they think they don't want to be led

  • Processes, Tools, and Documentation: E.g., The ideal candidate will be able to recognize the need for each of these elements, and consistently make the time / apply their talents to develop and improve them

  • Communication skills: E.g., Comfortable summarizing complex features/topics at higher level … as well as capability to dig into the details with audiences of varying backgrounds

  • Interpersonal skills: E.g., Influence without authority: The capability to convincingly lay out the case for action by other Teams

  • Technical skills: E.g., Ideal candidates will have some (more is better) CPE, ATI, OBD, or Controls experience through a VPI cycle or through multiple projects in the CPS world

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Base salary range: $84,800 - $127,200

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
