    The Simulation Operation Specialist (SimOps) IT Technician is responsible for the operation of a variety of manikins, the AV system, inventory/supplies, and faculty technology support. The SimOps will serve as a resource for all IT questions related to operation and service of the simulation equipment, AV, and IT related products as deemed necessary. The SimOps will be responsible for maintaining all documents of IT operation, inventory, and communication with vendor companies and resolution.

    Responsibilities

  • Assist in simulation assembly of supplies, computers, manikins, and AV equipment.

  • Operate simulators and AV equipment for faculty training.

  • Support end users by resolving hardware and software problems, installation of applications, and deployment of new technology.

  • Maintain IT equipment, computers, manikins, AV equipment and software updates.

  • Serve as resource for learners and educators regarding IT related inquiries.

  • Develop and maintain log of AV, IT, manikin updates, and repair for equipment.

  • Effectively communicate with the University Director of Simulation.

  • Independently communicate with equipment vendors and IT support as needed.

  • Work with faculty with the programing of simulation scenarios.

  • Independently research best practice guidelines and maintain current knowledge of manikin updates, usage problems and new products.

  • Collaborate with University Simulation Director and Campus President regarding purchases of equipment.

  • Assist with tours and operation of manikins, IT and AV equipment as deemed necessary.

  • Assists faculty and students with IT support as needed for simulation activities.

  • Facilitate scenarios and operate manikins for academic programs curriculum.

  • Train faculty on manikin operations.

  • Assist with ordering and maintaining lab supplies.

  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology and/or related field professional experience.

  • IT support experience.

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist certification (CHSOS) preferred.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Customer service experience preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.

  • Extensive experience with hardware/software platforms.

  • Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of IP networking, and related network services.

  • Effective professional communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic).

  • Effectively works in a team environment.

  • Working knowledge of simulation products such as Laerdal, Gaumard, and CAE.

  • Physical ability to lift, move, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
