Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands of SC and SCVIA Maintenance Specialist I in Columbia, South Carolina

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To effectively extend timely and courteous customer service to all Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inc., hereafter - GIUMSC, locations.

To encourage and promote a mutual associate/customer relationship which enhances the profitability of GIUMSC.

To represent GIUMSC in a highly professional manner to reflect values and standards of its mission and goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facilities to meet NFPA-101 Life Safety codes, Southern Standard Building codes, Local, Federal and State Building codes and Ordinances and the American with Disabilities Act.
  2. To provide regular facilities maintenance and services to all GIUMSC locations as scheduled.
  3. To be responsible for all service requests submitted thru the LPMS system for any and all necessary repairs.
  4. To proactively support the facilities function by identifying and solving potential problems before a problem exists.
  5. To present himself as a professional at all times and act accordingly to the highest standards.
  6. To perform carpentry, change light bulbs and ballasts in retail stores, production areas, donation centers, offices and Job Connections within GIUMSC.
  7. To repair and maintain bins, z racks, pallet jacks, hand trucks and electric pallet jacks to meet all production and operational needs.
  8. To provide general plumbing solutions for all locations within the territory.
  9. To make minor electrical repairs according to N.E.C. codes at all locations.
  10. To cut out and join parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings, using power tools and hand tools.
  11. To patch or replace plaster or plaster board and paint walls, ceilings, and trim of building.
  12. To assist Retail personnel during new and existing facility renovations.
  13. To assist contractors and sub-contractors repairing and maintaining or upgrading facilities.
  14. To perform general housekeeping, custodial and janitorial duties as may be scheduled and assigned.
  15. To be flexible with scheduling to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  16. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Additional training and experience in general facilities maintenance is preferred.

Work Experience: Experience in general building and facilities maintenance with electrical, carpentry, plumbing and mechanical skills. Must have current and valid S.C. drivers license with limited points for driving violations.

Physical Requirements: Daily requirements may include climbing, balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, and standing, stooping, kneeling, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, crawling and pulling. May be required to lift objects exceeding 50 pounds, may be exposed to dust and odors. Could be required to work outdoors on roofs during inclement weather.

Safety and Security: Must wear the required PPE as deemed necessary to the task being performed. Follow all safety rules and regulations for the facilities task to be performed.
