Job Description

Grace is seeking a Technical Service Manager to join our FCC Technical Service team! This role reports to the Technical Sales Director and may be located remotely in the US with the ability to travel up to 50%.

This role will act as a point of contact for Grace and perform Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) technical services activities for a group of customers whose annual sales are 20 to 35 million per year.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key link for Customer Driven Innovation via understanding and communicating current and future customer needs and value.

  • Coordinate with Marketing and R&D to drive the development of products that meet these needs including assessment of field performance (including pilot plant studies) and communication of results.

  • Interact with FCC industry experts at technical and commercial functions (such as the AFPM) to both maintain leading edge knowledge of refining trends and technology and represent Grace as a leader in this area.

  • Serve as subject matter expert regarding optimization of our customers’ FCC assets via matching their specific objectives and constraints with our catalyst technology.

  • Leverage knowledge of Grace products, R&D testing resources, Simulation Modeling (Petrosim e.g.) to develop and propose solutions that increase customer and Grace value.

  • Analyze key data (ecat/operating) using simulation-modeling and statistical tools to assess results vs. predictions and to develop presentations to communicate value delivered to all levels of customer organization.

  • Build relationships at all levels within the customer hierarchy (develop to “trusted advisor” status).

  • Identify potential customer value propositions.

  • Develop, prepare, and present proposals that clearly illustrate customer value propositions and capture portion for Grace.

  • Conduct technical seminars and training of customers.

  • Leverage refining industry experience to work with account managers to navigate customer’s decision making processes and to be an active and key contributor to customer strategic account planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.

  • 10+ years of experience in the refining industry with at least 2 years of experience in refining technology or 2 years of FCC experience preferably in engineering and plant operations (preference for experience with refining/FCC economics).

  • Demonstrated expertise in simulation modeling specifically Petrosim/Profimatics.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote work environment to accomplish goals with the ability to travel when required (up to 50%).

  • Knowledge of refining technology, operations, and economics with a working knowledge of how to develop value propositions and convey these to customers through excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Clear understanding of refinery organizational designs and how decisions are made regarding value at the customer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree

Compensation Data

  • Annual salary range: $141,600 - $177,000

  • This position will also offer an annual short-term incentive bonus.
