Kennedy Krieger Institute Occupational Therapist II (Patuxent Woods- Outpatient) $2500 Sign On Bonus in Columbia, Maryland

Overview

The Occupational Therapist II will perform evaluation and subsequent planning, execution, and supervision of therapy programs for persons with neuromotor dysfunction. The Occupational Therapist will participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs for affiliating students, staff, and community agencies, clinical supervision of OT students, COTAs, and volunteers/aides, and maintain appropriate patient records. Develops and/or coordinates patient and staff education programs within area of specialty and assures continuity in clinical and patient education programs and demonstrates leadership and high level of expertise in their specialty area. Has the potential to participate in clinical research within specialty area.

Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate assigned patients; plan programs; execute, supervise, and document programs as planned.

  2. Provide instruction to caregivers regarding home and community programming.

  3. Maintain written documentation, including patient reports, progress notes, initial and discharge reports, according to procedures of the department, KKI, and Maryland OT guidelines.

  4. Supervises affiliating students/trainees and clinical staff as assigned.

  5. Assists in the development of treatment protocols and clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.

  6. Assist in care and maintain of department equipment and supplies.

  7. Participates in planning and execution of programs for personal and professional growth and development.

Qualifications

  • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.

  • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

  • Ability to provide program development, evaluation, and performance improvement/ performance improvement measures within specialty area.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy with a minimum with a Baccalaureate Degree or basic Masters in Occupational Therapy.

  • Eligible for license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Maryland.

  • Successful completion of national registration exam and minimum of six months full-time field experience .

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years licensed experience in Occupational Therapy with at least two years documented experience in area of specialty.

  • Experience in pediatrics and/or rehabilitation and treatment preferred.
