Logistician/ Logistics Analyst

Performs a variety of duties relating to the occupational fields of engineering and logistics such as property accountability, material control, source identification, alternate suppliers, purchase and expedition, equipment and material flow, historical tracking, and forecasting. Conducts material studies of raw/input material, monitors inventory and replenishment, and analyzes requirements in order to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and material fill rates.

Supports the accounting of all equipment and support material on contract. Maintains complete and accurate property accounting records covering the receipt, transfer, and current location of all customer inventory at worksite and field locations. May work directly with government property and logistics personnel. Prepares appropriate documentation to facilitate material flow.

Researches source identification and alternate source suppliers for replacement parts for equipment and obtain parts through government or commercial channels. Contacts vendors and suppliers for information relating to parts replacement or procurement of new components.

May act as a buyer and perform duties in accordance with established procedures. Procures parts as necessary to meet tasking requirements utilizing various methods being diligent to keep the government’s best interest in mind with respect to researching low-cost providers. Maintains requisition information for all parts, materials, and equipment. Establishes delivery and expedition schedule. Maintains close follow-up on requisition items to ensure meeting due dates and identifies late delivery items at the earliest possible times. Coordinates alternate solutions with engineering and or with government customers.

Classifies, rates, routes, traces, selects carriers and transportation modes, and expedites inbound and outbound shipments to meet desired schedules using the most economical manner. Coordinates the transportation and handling of special materials and equipment. May utilize commercial vehicles to deliver material to locations.

May be required to utilize various material handling equipment in the performance of logistics support activities including forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery vehicles. May also pack and ship material in support of program efforts.

May direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of lower-level logistics personnel to assure maximum efficiencies of group activities.

Must have or be able to obtain a TS/SCI with full scope poly and must maintain clearance as part of employment.

Qualifications

Minimum of seven years experience working in the logistics field, government property experience

Physical ability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 51 pounds as well as move with assistance equipment and boxes in excess of 125 lbs. Ability to climb stock ladders to pull parts.
