Robert Half Accounting Manager in Columbia, Maryland

Description

My client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to join their team in the Real Estate Development industry based in the greater Columbia, Maryland area. This role involves ensuring the integrity of financial information for select development projects and processes in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policy, and contractual arrangements. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee job costing and percentage completion revenue recognition and reporting.

  • Manage change orders and ensure payments to subcontractors are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Work with project managers to ensure jobs stay on budget and that any impacts to the budget or project timeline are known to management.

  • Manage staff members and supervise their workload.

  • Assist and teach staff to assist them in their growth.

  • Maintain and improve internal controls and control environment.

  • Assist with due diligence for asset management including acquiring, divesting and possible refinancing opportunities.

    Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role within the real estate development industry.

  • Proficiency in job cost accounting.

  • Solid understanding and experience of construction accounting procedures.

  • Proven ability in working with internal and external operational and financial audits.

  • Expertise in preparing financial statements.

  • CPA or in pursuit.

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in using large ERP accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
