312 - Atmospheric Aerosol Scientist - NOT A DATA SCIENCE ROLE We are seeking a talented and motivated Atmospheric Scientist to join our dynamic team focused on developing and validating atmospheric aerosol algorithms and products. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our understanding of aerosol processes, improving algorithms, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our aerosol-related products. Work as part of a team supporting NOAA scientists in developing, maintaining, and validating algorithms for sensing aerosols, water vapor, and trace gases from satellites. Trace gases may include NO2, SO2, and O3; sensors may include polar and geostationary NOAA and NOAA-partner satellites. Responsibilities: Algorithm Development:

  • Collaborate with the research and development team to contribute to designing, implementing, and improving aerosol algorithms.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of aerosol-related data sets to identify areas for algorithm enhancement.

Validation and Testing:

  • Develop and implement validation plans to assess the performance and accuracy of aerosol algorithms.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation procedures to ensure the reliability of developed algorithms and products.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyze aerosol data sets, draw meaningful insights, and provide recommendations for algorithm optimization.
  • Work closely with data scientists to interpret results and contribute to scientific publications.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders regarding aerosol products and algorithms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address user inquiries and troubleshoot technical issues.

Documentation:

  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for developed algorithms, validation processes, and product specifications.
  • Ensure that documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar for data analysis.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
