Schedule: Full-Time – Non-Exempt

Reports To: Plant Operations Manager

Overview: Nomad Global Communications Solutions is a leading provider of communication and response products serving a variety of customers. Our purpose is to be the solution when every minute matters. We seek a Production Manager who can lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of production employees while working safely, meeting efficiency expectations, and delivering a quality product on time.

The successful candidate will have a proven record as a change agent capable of developing process improvements and finding solutions in a rapidly changing and at times unpredictable job shop environment. This person will be data driven and skilled at performance management and conflict resolution. We prefer a candidate with a related bachelor’s degree and formal training and/or certification in Lean.

Essential Functions/Responsibility:

  • Manage production to ensure that safety, efficiency, and delivery goals are met.

  • Be actively engaged with the production floor and available to team members.

  • Manage production schedules and evaluate staffing requirements; identify issues and develop solutions.

  • Clearly communicate to the Plant Operations Manager timelines and delivery dates including changes, updates, setbacks and potential issues and solutions.

  • Monitor performance and track and respond to KPIs.

  • Demonstrate continual focus on safety, quality, cost and delivery and expect that of your team.

  • Monitor production status throughout the shift, remove bottlenecks, take corrective action as needed.

  • Anticipate production challenges and be prepared with responses. Develop and present improvement ideas and identify needed support.

  • Responsibly manage schedules and paid time off.

  • Work cooperatively with other supervisors and departments to find solutions and achieve goals.

  • Evaluate and assess team members, recording notes as needed, handling disciplinary issues, and conducting performance evaluations. Recommend wage adjustments, promotions, and terminations.

  • Coach individual team members based on performance and behavioral goals as required by their job descriptions and the Nomad Employee Handbook. In addition, focus on developing employees based on their individual skills, potential, and interests.

  • Maintain confidentiality as needed and appropriate.

  • Demonstrate Nomad Core Values, apply them, and require them of Team Members.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience/Skills Desired:

  • Significant experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Lean training/certification.

  • Strong communication and listening skills; able to effectively communicate with members at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others, identify emerging problems, problem solve, and negotiate solutions as needed and resolve conflicts.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop others.

  • Able to combine initiative, integrity, and discipline to accomplish challenging and varying tasks through other people.

  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and able to quickly learn and work in new systems.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to use hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • Able to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, occasionally work at heights up to 20 feet.

  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

    Working Environment:

  • The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. At times working outside will be required.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that MSDS.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.
