Position: Mechanical Design Engineering Administrative Specialist

Division: Operations

Department: Mechanical Design Engineering

Schedule: Full-Time - Hourly

Reports To: Mechanical Design Engineering Manager

The Mechanical Design Engineering Administrative Specialist supports the Engineering Team in production release documentation, revision control, data entry, and communications throughout manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions/Responsibility:

  • Initial release of Engineering packages

  • Take direction from Engineers.

  • Run Access reports to determine document contents of Engineering packages .

  • Comprehend engineered drawings to separate by basic manufacturing processes.

  • Transfer CAD and other files into appropriate server folders.

  • Complete data entry and basic manipulation into various manufacturing databases.

  • Physically print paperwork and deliver to departments.

  • Revision control

  • Take direction from Engineers to update drawing packages based on revision.

  • Transfer CAD and other files into appropriate server folders.

  • Complete data entry and basic manipulation into various manufacturing databases.

  • Physically print revision paperwork and substitute in WIP documentation packages on the manufacturing floor

  • Further management of documentation in WIP

  • Assist Mechanical Engineering in CIP of documentation processes, databases, and file storage.

  • Assist in determining root cause and remedying documentation inefficiencies/ part flow though manufacturing processes.

  • Field manufacturing personnel’s documentation questions before determining it necessary to address Engineers directly.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Understand the significance of the Nomad Core Values and apply them.

  • Basic familiarity with

  • engineering drawings

  • ERP/ MRP systems

  • CAD/PLM/PDM systems

    Physical Demands:

  • The employee is required to be able to sit or stand for most of their workday.

  • The employee will be required to communicate with manufacturing floor and therefore must be able to walk in congested areas while being self-aware of body in presence of obstacles.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

    Working Environment:

  • Typical indoor office environment, long periods of computer-related work, constant interruptions, and high levels of stress at times.

  • The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. There are times when working outside will be required.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by MSDS.

  • All Team Members must wear OSHA-approved safety glasses and closed-toed shoes at all times on the production floor.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED. AA/AS/BA/BS in Business or Technical field preferred.

  • Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience are a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with SharePoint, Smartsheet, Access, and/or other data storage structures is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic familiarity with engineering drawings.

  • Basic familiarity with ERP/ MRP, CAD/PLM/PDM systems is a plus.
