Overview and Essential Functions

Pauley Construction has a great opportunity available. We are looking for a Telecom Underground Foreman to report out of our Colorado Springs, CO office. Must be able to lead a team to meet goals while operating under various timelines. Experience working with Aerial Construction is preferred but not required. This is a full time position. Overview:

This position includes work direction, coordination and oversight of a specific crew(s) ranging from 2-8 employees or subcontractors. This position is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. This position will specifically manage a crew that can oversee a specific set of operations which can include, but not limited to: Trench & Plow, Aerial, Drilling/Bore, Asphalt or Conduit. This can include machine operation as well. This position must be able to interface with customer and city inspectors on a frequent basis, coordinate pre-construction meetings, keep detailed safety and production records, do as-builds as required and be a leader for all the crews. The ideal candidate will also need to be a skilled excavation operator. This position will also assist with getting permits, ensuring crew and site safety and calling locates.

This position must possess excellent customer service skills, be willing to face issues in a positive manner and resolve day to day conflicts as they arise. Professional reporting, time sheets, job cost, material slips, purchase orders and equipment maintenance experience are required for this position. This individual must assume personal responsibility for the overall safety, job sites, customer, OSHA, DOT, and company policy and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment.

  • Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportation of equipment if needed

  • General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of sub-contractors.

  • Assisting in securing site; employees and safety

  • General maintenance

  • General utility installation/repair

  • Assists with as-builds and ensures attention to detail and high quality work

  • May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 6-12 months of work-related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work

  • Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results

  • Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.

    Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees, customers and vendors.

    Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

    Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public.

    Other Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate company equipment and drive company vehicles.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.

  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.

  • May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.

  • May include working nights and holidays as needed.

  • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs.

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

Pay Range: The hourly pay range for the Telecom Underground Foreman is $23.00 - $25.00 an hour depending on experience.
