The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Soldier Ride Manager oversees the WWP Soldier Ride team and the cycling events and activities for an assigned local or regional area to connect, serve, and empower wounded service members and their families. The Soldier Ride Manager serves as a public representative of WWP in scheduled ride communities to develop relationships and partnerships and inspire support for WWP programs and services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of local WWP Soldier Ride team members, mentoring and developing their skills and abilities, to effectively deliver outreach and engagement activities to wounded warriors and their families.

  • Travel and provide onsite presence and leadership during the event activity to ensure warrior participation and event’s success.

  • Develop, coordinate, plan, and execute local and regional Soldier Rides for Alumni and their families to attend and participate, and to connect with other Alumni.

  • Establish effective working relationship and work collaboratively with WWP teammates.

  • Develop community support for WWP. Present WWP vision and values to the community and media, communicating the benefits of WWP programs and services, and inspire them to become involved with and support the WWP vision.

  • Develop and manage assigned team budget, ensuring proper expense controls and accurate records. Identify opportunities for Gifts-in-Kind and discounts.

  • Maintain current and accurate data in WWP intranet electronic tracking systems, e.g., SalesForce.

  • Coordinate with WWP teammates and community partners to promote events.

  • Collect and report results and performance metrics for Soldier Ride events.

  • Develop and facilitate virtual programming content via Zoom, Facebook Live, and other technology-based platforms.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated understanding of budget management and fiduciary oversight principles.

  • Ability and dedication to travel in support of WWP programs and services outreach.

  • Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct.

  • Demonstrated intermediate-level cycling fitness and abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to push cycling using adaptive sports equipment during Soldier Rides

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and maintain pace of the group during events to assist warriors.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach skills development clinic program curriculum to both warriors and teammates.

  • Demonstrated basic cycling mechanics.

    EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Four years of experience developing and building relationships and partnerships, e.g. with military organizations, veteran’s associations, community partnerships, or corporate relationships.

  • Three years of staff management experience. Three years of experience successfully performing in a WWP programmatic position, e.g., Outreach Specialist, Combat Stress Recovery Specialist, Physical Health & Wellness Specialist, may be substituted for three years of staff management experience.

  • Three years of road or mountain biking experience at the intermediate level.

Preferences

  • Four years of experience working with military treatment facilities, veteran’s administration facilities, or military medical separation/ retirement processes.

  • Two years of experience planning events or community activities.

  • One year of experience managing operating budgets.

  • Three years of intermediate-level skiing or snowboarding experience.

  • Three years of experience demonstrating and instructing basic road and mountain biking.

  • Two years of group cycling experience, including coaching and pushing cyclists using adaptive sports equipment.

  • Public speaking experience.

    EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of education and applicable military experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

    CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.

Preferences

  • Certified cycling coach.

  • Certified cycling skills instructor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment, temperature controlled.

  • Participation in outdoor activities and events under varying weather conditions.

  • Up to 75% travel.

  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.

  • Cycling for prolonged amounts of time.

  • Intermediate cycling fitness.

    For Colorado Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $82,790 - $103,488 base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
