Department Summary:

The Advanced Capabilities Department (N162) within the Integrated All-Domain Effects Division (N160) in MITRE’s Air and Space Forces Center focuses on developing and enabling capabilities to counter peer adversaries and enable the US to project power and operate within highly contested environments. N162 is seeking a Software Engineer who wants to deliver innovative solutions to unique national challenges.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy software applications and systems.

  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.

  • Utilize your expertise in Python, Java, C#, and other relevant programming languages to develop efficient and scalable software solutions.

  • Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing, and debugging.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest software engineering trends and technologies, and apply them to enhance product performance and functionality.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of microservices.

  • Contribute to network design, analysis, and cyber security efforts.

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of related experience or 3 years and a Master’s degree.

  • Strong programming skills and experience with Python, Java, and C#.

  • Expertise in digital signal processing with a strong foundation in DSP algorithms, filters, and data analysis.

  • Proficiency in software lifecycle development processes and tools.

  • Experience with Linux and writing software for Linux.

  • Knowledge of microservice architecture and containerization tools like Docker.

  • Experience with network design, analysis, and cyber security practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must be willing and able to travel on an occasional basis (5%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with RF communications systems.

  • Cisco networking and configuration.

  • Experience with Wireshark and network protocols.

  • C/C++ and Javascript experience.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$116,000 - $145,000 - $174,000 Annual
