VCA Animal Hospitals Patient Care Attendant @ VCA Northwest Animal Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado

VCA Northwest Animal Hospital seeking Patient Care Attendants to join our team! Our team is a fun, hardworking group of animal lovers, who enjoy working with people and their pets, while providing quality customer service, medicine and patient care. We would love for like minded individuals to join our hospital.

Hourly wage range between $15.00- $16.00 depending upon experience.

Availability required until 6pm weekdays and rotating Saturdays and Sundays.

The patient care attendant works closely with our technicians and treatment team, assisting the veterinarians, with tasks that are vital to the daily care of our patients, and clients, and to ensure the smooth functioning of our hospital.

The patient care attendant supports through direct care, and maintenance of our treatment area kennels and cages, hospital and surroundings, feeding and general husbandry of hospitalized patients, as well as animals under the care of our medical team, and other functions and tasks involved in patient care and operations of a veterinary hospital. Some typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting of cages, counters, floors, doors, sinks, tubs.

  • Routine and General Maintenance of the hospital, treatment rooms, patient care areas, patient housing locations, and outdoor areas.

  • Routine Cleaning and disinfecting

  • Cleaning, disinfecting , wrapping, and sterilization of surgery equipment, instruments, dental instruments, towels, and gowns.

  • Uploading Medical Records and Documents.

  • Filling prescriptions according to protocols.

  • Animal Husbandry,

  • Feeding, Walking, Observation, and care of animals

  • Administering Medications under the direction of the medical staff.

  • Restraint of dogs and cats. Assist in nail trims, vaccinations and blood draws.

  • Urine & Fecal collection.

  • Basic Laboratory duties & tests.

  • Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning

The patient care attendant must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be able to understand basic units of measure. (lb., kg. capsule, tablet, mg, ml, etc.) Must be able to understand and follow standard hospital procedure and protocols, basic medical record management and recordkeeping.

Must be able to follow the directions of, and use various cleaning supplies and disinfectants. Must utilize proper PPE.

Allergies to animals must be controlled by medication.

Must be safely able to handle dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry and move) up to 40lbs.

Must support the hospital, team and VCA.
