Function The Shelter Program Manager's main focus is providing a welcoming and caring facility for our guests at the Family Hope Center. This will require working with staff to create a welcoming environment that serves our guests to help them advance their goals and move forward out of the shelter. This will require working with all staff and case managers working as one supportive team. The Social Service Director will oversee the shelter, its policy and ultimately the outcomes of the shelter. Duties and Responsibilities Provide direction for the shelter staff and supervision of its employees. Develop the staff schedules to provide adequate coverage for the shelter 24/7/365 Maintain required documentation for grant reimbursements Work with the facilities team to maintain the shelter property Work with your staff to maintain great volunteer relationships Attend civic meetings as assigned Participate in networking opportunities as approved related to homelessness. Maintain a high level of confidentiality over staff and clients Ensure a positive, safe, and Christ-centric atmosphere at the shelter, expecting all staff to participate in accomplishing these aims. Ensure WellSky, HMIS and other related software for client tracking are maintained and audit-ready at all times. Ensure a safe space for family and children Keep the shelter ready for Protecting The Mission (child safety standards) audits Hiring manager for shelter staff, firing, and write-up staff as needed and approved. Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications Education/Experience BA in Humanities Field preferred 5+ years' experience in Case Management and/or shelter management experience preferred. Software-related Skills Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training Skills & Knowledge Ability to work independently with little or no supervision Ability to access and produce information from a computer Ability to work with a diverse population Ability to defuse tense situations Ability to collect and maintain statistics for billing and calendar planning Ability to work with a diverse population in a professional manner building relationships (including vendors & donors) Ability to motivate and encourage staff and volunteers Ability to create and maintain a budget and fundraise for programs Driving If the position requires driving: A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required. An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
