Job Title Data Architect (USSPACECOM)

Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking an individual to Data Architect support to USSPACECOM. This position will provide primary support to USSPACECOM J6 in designing, building, and maintaining the data architecture in support of mission objectives. The position requires an individual possessing a wide range of skills and demonstrated experience, providing a effective management, integration, and utilization of data assets in support of strategic and tactical decision-making. The Individual will: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy. Design and document data architecture, including data models, schemas, data flows, and integration patterns. Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to ensure accurate representation of data assets. Collaborate with application development teams to design and optimize database structures for performance and scalability. Define and enforce data naming, coding standards, and conventions. Design efficient Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data quality and consistency across various sources and systems. Develop data integration strategies to enable seamless data movement between on-premises and cloud environments. Establish data governance practices to ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations. Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and define access controls for different user roles. Monitor and analyze data performance to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to tune database performance and recommend improvements. Work closely with mission stakeholders, data analysts, data engineers, and other IT teams to gather requirements and align on data solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively. Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms to support data architecture initiatives.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a demonstrated experience in creating scalable and efficient data solutions at mission relevant speeds supporting a wide variety of mission areas for USSPACECOM.

Specific Requirements Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience (8+ years) as a Data Architect or similar role in designing and implementing complex data solutions. Strong expertise in data modeling, database design, and ETL processes. Proficiency in data architecture tools, database management systems, and cloud platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with agile methodologies and project management is a plus. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Security+) are advantageous. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; articulate complex issues; and maintain a good working relationship. Possess and ability to maintain a DOD TS/SCI clearance
