Focus on the Family Creative Services, Sr Manager in Colorado Springs, Colorado

The Senior Manager, Creative Services position oversees designers and copywriters with an intense client focus and the purpose of delivering imaginative, memorable projects efficiently and effectively. The position reports to the Executive Director, Constituent Services and serves as a creative advisor across the ministry.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspires, facilitates, and coaches designers and copywriters to create beautiful, memorable projects that resonate with current and target audiences

  • Works closely with the brand management team to ensure Creative is doing its part to increase brand awareness

  • Manages designers and copywriters through all phases of projects: input session, creative kick-off, execution, presenting to client, final art production, coordinating with print buyers, and final delivery

  • Manages copywriters and provides guidance on how copy and design should work together

  • Works on high-level, high-impact projects across the ministry, as needed

  • Coordinates with the Traffic Team to prioritize creative activities, distribute projects to designers and copywriters, and provide monthly reports on team capacity

  • Reviews creative work before it is sent to clients

  • Understands and translates client needs to the creative team

  • Serves and interacts with clients in an engaging manner while keeping track of multiple, changing priorities

  • Leverages communication and collaboration skills to best strategize, manage, and execute the visual stylings of a winning marketing or advertising campaign

  • Establishes consistent creative processes

  • Works collaboratively with other creative, research, marketing, cultivation, and digital team members to develop creative work

  • May lead major design projects, such as See Life

  • Keeps up to date with trends in graphic design techniques and software

    Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in overall department initiatives such as creative training, branding exercises, research, etc.

  • Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, voice work, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family

    Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:

  • Leads a team of 4-8 members of the Creative Services Team

    Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual media, or other relevant majors or equivalent experience

  • 7-10 years of experience working in a creative agency or business environment, including 3 years of leadership experience

  • Experience in directing and optimizing the art/design work of teammates toward excellent results

  • Strong portfolio of completed brand & design projects in a variety of formats

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other software to assist with layouts, revisions, editing photos and vector drawing

  • Understanding of photography and video for use in design including art directing/interacting on custom shoots

  • Familiar with prepress techniques and file preparation

    Salary Range: $83,196 to $95,157/Yr.
