Education: Associates Degree, or HS Diploma/GED and 5 years of hands on job related experience

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years' of relevant experience desired

Certification: Certified Fiber Optic Tech or Equivalent Certification

Qualifications:

Install, terminate and test new color-coded trunk fiber cables and patch panels Configure, install, interconnect and test CISCO and JUNIPER network equipment Assist in troubleshooting any installed cable plant related issues Remove and dispose of all old racks and cabling unless identified for reutilization Ensure all installed equipment, racks, patch panels and cabling are labeled and documented IAW pre-determined numbering, color coding and labeling schema Label, route, and install cat5e/cat6/fiber cabling systems in new and existing environments Ability to resolve discrepancies or issues Responsible for providing proper documentation for inventory control bench stock and projects Communicate with customers, customer representatives, staff as necessary

Required Skills:

Must possess an active Top Secret+ DoD security clearance Certified Fiber Optic Tech or Equivalent At least three (3) years' expertise in the installation of specified components proof required Ensure that systems are installed properly and on time in accordance with current procedures and quality control standards. Provide accurate documentation for completed work Stay up to date and knowledgeable in current services, technology as well as internal processes and procedures Test all cables and provide test report for acceptance before placing them into service Basic knowledge of IP, Ethernet, routers, firewalls, and CAT5 technologies Ability to read and interpret construction documents and wiring diagrams Other related assignments as required

Physical Requirements:

Use of power tools Stand, walk, reach with arms and hands May have to step over, climb or balance around obstacles Ability to twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Lift up to 50 lbs.
