The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is looking a highly motivated, detailed oriented person with bookkeeping experience to join our dynamic team of professionals as an Accounting Assistant.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Accounting Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for keeping inmates' accounts up-to-date and accurate for your assigned Institution. Key responsibilities of the position include processing release forms and notifications when inmates are released or transferred, typing letters and memos, and returning telephone inquires concerning inmate accounts and resolving discrepancies. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (37.50 hours per week) Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,003.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
