SAIC Research Scientist Sr - (quantum information devices) in COLLEGE PARK, Maryland
SAIC is seeking an experienced Research Scientist Sr. for our College Park, MD location to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in quantum information science by performing the following tasks:
Actively participate in fundamental research focused on creating and testing novel superconductor or semiconductor qubit devices, by engaging in hands-on research performing device design, fabrication, or measurement as part of a team.
Draw conclusions based on data, make recommendations regarding areas of investigation needed in specific research program areas, as well as develop program development plans to accomplish specific research goals.
Submit reports including quarterly and annual reports detailing laboratory progress and success.
Participate in periodic program reviews to provide updates, develop evaluation plans, and performing the necessary administration.
The successful candidate will help plan and execute laboratory research based on substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories, contribute to completion of milestones associated with specific projects, and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences. Advanced data reporting techniques, mathematics, and statistics will be used to conduct research, report research, analyze data from research studies, and develop internal reports. The position requires work to be completed under general direction on routine tasks and may receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
PhD in physics or relevant engineering discipline and experience with topics regarding the development of a quantum information devices, including qubit design, qubit fabrication, qubit measurements, or microwave engineering.
Experience in superconducting quantum circuits or semiconductor spin qubits preferred.
Experience with scientific computing, including C++, Python, or MATLAB.
Ability to apply expertise across a wide variety of technical problems.
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Active clearance or ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Polygraph clearance required
