THE VENUE

The Maryland Club, located within the XFINITY Center at the University of Maryland, serves club members and suite holders on game days. The venue provides an all-inclusive premium dining experience with high-end game day buffets and beverage offerings in a lively, upscale environment.

THE ROLE

The Porter position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen, washing all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and assisting in the preparation and breakdown of game day buffets. This role ensures the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently while upholding health and safety standards. The Porter is also responsible for cleaning and handling delicate china, glassware, and buffet equipment with care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Clean and sanitize all dishes, silverware, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans according to health and safety standards.

  • Operate and maintain dishwasher and other kitchen equipment properly and carefully

  • Handle delicate china, glassware, and buffet equipment with care to avoid breakage or damage.

  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen appliances.

  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining buffet equipment, ensuring it is ready for service before each event.

  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and chemicals as needed, ensuring the dishwashing area remains fully equipped.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing floors and surfaces throughout the kitchen.

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of game day buffets, including transporting and organizing buffet equipment.

  • Assist with routine inventory of kitchen supplies, equipment, and dishware.

  • Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure dishes are cleaned in a timely manner and returned to proper stations.

  • Perform daily deep-cleaning tasks and ensure all cleaning tasks are completed by the end of the shift.

  • Dispose of waste properly, including sorting recyclables and managing compost and trash.

  • Assist in transporting food and kitchen supplies when needed.

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with County Health and Legends Hospitality standards.

  • Practice safe work habits and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Ability to interact professionally with colleagues to ensure compliance with company service standards.

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service and sanitation standards.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to work in an open-air environment in varying weather conditions.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform production tasks including constant reaching, bending, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.

  • Must be able to read, speak, and write effectively to communicate with colleagues.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle delicate items safely.

  • Practice safe work habits and complete company-wide and job-specific safety training.
