THE ROLE

The Beverage Manager of The Maryland Club based out of the XFINITY Center in College Park, MD and reports to the General Manager. This role oversee all beverage operations for the private members club, in addition to game day suites and court side service. This role will be responsible for building and launching the beverage program, curating beverage activations, and ensuring high standards of service in the private club setting. The Beverage Manager also ensures that all bartenders are TIPS certified and follow the guidelines of the law when serving patrons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the General Manager and Legends team to build a beverage program that aligns with the Affinity Club model and standard.

  • Lead the pre-opening recruitment, training and development of bar staff, ensuring they are well-versed in the club’s beverage standards and service expectations.

  • Create and implement SOPs, steps of service, and set up of bar areas, equipment and supplies.

  • Build relationships with members and curate menus, programming and offerings around their preferences and requests.

  • Overseeing day to day operations including staffing and assignments, side-work supervision, inventory management, and opening and closing procedures including Point-of-Sales (POS) reporting.

  • Ensures that beverages are provided, in-stock, and made with the freshest and highest quality ingredients.

  • Responsible for all beverage ordering, receiving, and distributor relationships.

  • Review and audit end-of-month inventory for the club, court side bar, and suite catering operation.

  • Provide efficient service and quality products by maintaining positive customer and client relations through effective communication.

  • Align with University of Maryland to meet needs of partnership and any beverage sponsorship requirements and accommodations.

  • Works with the management and chef team on beverage menus, specialty cocktails, programming/event opportunities and any specific updates on inventory levels.

  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.

  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a fine dining and casual restaurant environment.

  • Wine knowledge and craft cocktail menu creation experience required.

  • Must possess a strong knowledge of food and beverage procedures, controls, and administration as well as complete awareness and ability to perform all foodservice functions.

  • Menu planning and development.

  • Must be available to work an irregular schedule.

  • Must be able to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

  • Must be able to stand or walk for varying lengths of time.
