ProMedica Health System LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse - Medical Oncology - Full Time - Days in Coldwater, Michigan

ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital has been providing high-quality health care services to the Branch County community since 1939. Located in Coldwater, Michigan, ProMedica Coldwater has 71 acute medical beds and 16 adult psychiatric beds to care for patients and their families.

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Oncology LPN will be under the direction of the Physician and the Department Director. The LPN serves as a key member of a patient centric care delivery model for high quality and service within the office setting. Performs at or above the standards of care set for the superior patient experience in clinical and non-clinical settings. Able to proficiently and effectively navigate through multiple information technology platforms and applications to provide and support best practices, value based care, supporting, implementing, and demonstrating the Core Values of ProMedica.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the professional clinician with examinations, evaluations and treatments.

  • Assists professional clinician’s referral of clients to appropriate health professionals and resources.

  • Advises professional clinician of patient conditions, incidents and findings significant to effective patient management.

  • Operates and maintains equipment appropriately and reports any malfunction.

  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, respiration and blood pressure.

  • Measures and records height and weight.

  • Performs complete and accurate medication reconciliation.

  • Performs pain assessment, fatigue assessment, and suicide screenings on clinic patients.

  • Arranges and processes all genetic testing of patients per physician order.

  • Calls in and/or refills patient prescriptions.

Non Essential Functions:

  • Provides health counseling to patients, advises them of conditions requiring correction, and encourages them to seek appropriate care or make a change in lifestyle.

  • Assists in coordinating scheduling of services for other departments (i.e. radiology, pharmacy, etc.)

  • Participates in implementation of new policies and procedures, forms and other planned changes to improve patient care.

  • Follows all patient safety goals including hand washing, patient identification, labelling specimens, and medication reconciliation.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION LICENSURE:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensures, or eligibility for licensure in the State of Michigan.

  • BLS certification required within in six months of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Chemical: Chemotherapy drugs.

OSHA Category 1: Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, toxic substances, other conditions common to a hospital environment.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting and transporting patients. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds, bend, stoop, push, pull.
