Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Research Technician I/II - Westcott Lab in Cold Spring Harbor, New York

Position Description

As a Research Technician I or II in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Westcott at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, you will work with a team of scientists studying how cancer coevolves with the immune system and investigating new therapeutic strategies to improve immunity against cancer. Research spans cancer genetics and genomics, immunology, immunotherapy, genetic engineering, and mouse models of cancer in a highly collaborative environment. You will perform a variety of wet lab and managerial tasks, including maintaining an experimental mouse colony, ordering and procurement, organizing experimental databases, protocol optimization, tissue preparation for experimental analyses (e.g., flow cytometry, sequencing), tissue immunostaining and microscopy, cell culture, PCR and molecular cloning, and basic laboratory maintenance. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship with an eye towards your career development.

Position Requirements

Education: A Bachelor's degree in biology/chemistry or related discipline.
Skills and experience: Prior exposure to a research lab is required. Working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics and experience in the ethical and humane use of laboratory animals is a plus. More experience in these areas is expected for technician I and II positions. A commitment to work in this position for a minimum of 2 years, with a start date of early to mid-August, 2024.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
