JOB DUTIES:

Oversees the daily operation of the clinical laboratory. Problem solves, provides technical assistance to staff, and assigns workload to scheduled staff.

Performs various clinical laboratory tests, analyzes, and interprets test results, and ensures accuracy.

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the policies and procedures for patient preparation, sample requirements, specimen collection, and pre-analytical factors that affect sample quality.

Coordinates departmental activities such as quality control, staff training, and procedural updates.

Monitors timely receipt, handling, testing, and submission of proficiency testing.

Organizes, updates, and monitors quality control, maintenance programs, and timely quality assurance activities

Assists the Lab Director with addressing employees\' failure to conform to facility performance and behavioral standards and cover absences as needed.

Assists with data collection for the quality assurance program or special projects.

The Laboratory Lead Tech assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions

In-depth knowledge of laboratory operations

Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public

Detail oriented with proven ability to multi-task

Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others

Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech, preferred

Ability to work well in a team or independently, required

Advanced knowledge of biology and chemistry
