POSITION SUMMARY Under limited supervision this position is responsible for developing and maintaining the computer systems required to control the refinery. To ensure the greatest possible degree of accuracy the incumbent is expected to select, design, procure, install, develop, commission and maintain the control systems. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor Degree Electrical or Chemical Engineering Advanced degree in Process Controls is highly desirable EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 3+ years of experience with process control engineering and implementation, preferably with Honeywell TDC-3000 or Experion, or Delta V control systems Work experience or coursework in Visual Basic Scripting and PC Networking preferred Fluent in Windows, PC hardware diagnosis and replacement Understanding of field instrumentation and how it functions Work experience or coursework in programming PLC ladder logic Ability to adjust work schedule to meet refinery deadlines and to address unexpected issues Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Engineering and maintenance of control and optimization applications. Unit control objectives and constraints are determined and controller variables defined and programmed to meet objectives. Models are developed from unit testing, Controls are implemented and tuned, Constraint settings are monitored and consulting is provided to operations on where to set these constraints to achieve optimum control performance. Consult with Planning and Operations to optimize targets and constraints, and to maintain implementation of the targets Engineering and maintenance of regulatory control applications as needed for operations and to support control applications. Develop and program correlations and calculated variables as needed to supplement control applications and operational requirements. Engineer, implement, and maintain supporting applications for process control applications, such as PHD/LIMS, Doc 3000, Integrity MOC, and others. Provide training and consulting to personnel in the use of these systems as needed Provide consulting to management of long term, strategic directions for control applications. Develop AFE\'s and budget items for all controls and supplemental applications. Provide instrumentation and controls consulting to other projects, such as new units, as needed. Engineer and install computer control systems. This is achieved through studying available computer hardware and software, selecting the best suited to a particular need, then installing according to codes and standards Engineer and implement effective operator interfaces for both regulatory and controls and supplemental applications. Develop and maintain good standards for graphics, alarms, and other parts of the operator interface system Local Control Network, Universal Control Network, and Fault Tolerant Ethernet hardware and software installation and maintenance. Layout, spec., and install fiber optic cable and equipment, hubs, modems, switches, and computers Regularly communicate with supervisor and team members to ensure Departmental deadlines are achieved EXPECTED RESULTS Accurate, optimized control giving better product specification compliance and reduced processing costs Accurate, reliable, stable regulatory control for successful application of control technology Reliable, accurate process correlations to eliminate the purchasing and maintaining of cost on-line analyzers, at a significant cost savings Optimum operation of a complex refinery control system with the result being profitable, safe, reliable operations Operators supplied with process information in an easy to read format to enable them to monitor operations or make immediate adjustments Reliable, fast, and up-to-date equipment maintenance to ensure a hi h degree of productivity on the network Adhere to all company policies and procedures Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
