Barry's Ground Cover, LLC Nursery Worker in Clymer, Pennsylvania

This is a Temporary Position. Dates of employment are from 2/3/2024 to 10/9/2024. Workers will be planting, digging, mulching, transplanting, mowing, watering, weed eating, and pulling weeds in nurseries and seasonal greenhouses. Fertilize, prune, spray, space, water, tag, and perform other plant maintenance.  Occasionally aid in the spreading / spraying of chemicals on plants. Clean and sweep greenhouses, including under tables. Workers will operate electric power conveyor belts, pot filling equipment, as well as dirt equipment. Count and inventory plants, plastic, and soil. Propagate plants from cuttings. Load plants onto carts and trucks. Move carts manually as well as with electric tugging machines (Pack Mules). Remove plastic from seasonal greenhouses in the spring and re-cover with plastic in the fall. Assist with the maintenance of greenhouses. Pot and plant bare roots and field grown plants, perform general maintenance on field grown plants. Fill, lift, and carry various sized pots with soil and plants weighing as much as 60 pounds. Work is to be done in the field for long periods of time. Workers will load carts and trucks with products weighing up to and including 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 6 feet. Hang baskets overhead on drip lines and lower baskets to fill orders. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions  for long periods of time. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, and insect spray related chemicals, etc. may affect workers' ability to perform the job. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in the outside perennial / annual fields as well as in the greenhouse ranges. Work will also include heavy mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limited to; power equipment may include power shears, chainsaws, high lifts, fork lifts, Pack Mules, and other tractors / nursery equipment. Workers will be expected to operate and maintain agricultural equipment with or without discretion. Move / drive / relocate box trucks as needed to load and unload plant material.  

Work will include heavy mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limited to; power equipment may include power shears, chainsaws, high lift, fork lift, Pack Mules, and tractors. Workers will be expected to operate and maintain agricultural equipment with or without direction.
