Copeland Director Business System Lean Operations in CLUJ NAPOCA, Romania

Copeland is a global provider of sustainable climate solutions, creating efficient residential, commercial, and industrial spaces through HVACR technologies.

We are looking for a Business System Lean Operations Leader who will support Copeland Business System development and implementation across manufacturing sites in Europe and Asia.

The Copeland Business System (CBS) Lean Operations Leader will be responsible for collaborating cross-functionally and with the leadership team to ensure successful implementation and ongoing operations continuous improvement, while being a driver of culture change. The right candidate will have extensive experience in leveraging lean manufacturing tools to drive operational transformation across multiple Operations sites concurrently.

The role will require significant travel (50-75%). This position provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity for broad exposure to our various businesses and their leadership teams. The home location for this position is somewhat flexible, but preferably near one of our business units in Europe.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Provide master-level guidance to business unit leadership for driving process and cultural transformation through CBS

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Copeland Business System operational excellence capabilities across the enterprise to drive significant impact in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People

  • Traveling to 10+ facilities to train on Lean principles, run enterprise level Kaizen events, and follow through on strategic objectives

  • Collaborating closely with business unit resources and leaders to support site-specific Lean initiatives

  • Defining and implementing reporting tools, KPIs, and associated, required software

  • Identify best practices and provide oversight of implementation

  • Work closely with the Project Management Office to ensure timely execution of key improvement and value-creation projects

  • Support the development and facilitation of a training curriculum for the Lean Business System principles and tools; leading training programs as necessary

  • Coaching and developing team members at all levels of the organization to become lean practitioners, with an emphasis not only on lean tools, but also on key lean principles and leadership behaviors

  • Act as change agent in challenging existing approaches and performance

  • Providing support to the enterprise VP, Business Excellence and developing tools, methods, and programs for use across the corporation

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field

  • Deep and broad knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tools

  • Proven experience implementing Lean operations capabilities in a multi-site environment with demonstrated positive results

  • Minimum 7-10 years of related work experience in progressively responsible roles including those in Lean, Operations, and/or General Management

  • Demonstrated experience with Lean operations tools including Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Standard Work, FMEA, Problem Solving, Kanban, Visual Daily Management, 80/20

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, influencing, and communication skills

  • Ability to engage with all levels of the organization globally, including training of peers as well as executives

  • Outstanding group facilitation, training, communication and presentation skills

  • Effective and collaborative problem-solving skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; general computer skills and knowledge

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • MBA or MS degree is desirable

  • 15+ years related work experience

  • Experienced in high mix / low volume manufacturing

  • Enterprise lean management

  • Multi-site / locations / regional manufacturing experience
