Henry Ford Health System Supply Technician/Full Time/Days/Macomb in Clinton Township, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs receiving activities including inspects parcels and checks for proper shipping standards. Prepares items to be shipped out for credit, repair, exchange, evaluation, or case studies. Coordinates shipping arrangements with various freight vendors for pick-ups. Performs activities associated with the delivery of Supply & Distribution services. Responsible for inventory picking and put-away activities, which may include case cart picking. Assist in resolution of routine problems and process improvements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates shipping arrangements with various freight carriers for pick-ups. Communicates with freight vendors such as Federal Express, Airborne, UPS, USPS, ISC, etc.

  • Receives, inspects and sorts all inbound parcels including mail to ensure they have been properly prepared for shipping according to security, (radioactive or hazardous materials) and shipping standards (correct address and labeling)

  • Provide customer support via responding to stat request, answering email, phone and various other communication methods.

  • Fulfils orders (standard order, case cart picking, etc.) including picking and delivery of materials including but not limited to supplies, linen, equipment, instruments, mail etc. to patient care and other areas in an efficient, accurate and punctual manner.

  • Maintains materials, inventory levels (including performing cycle counts), cleanliness, product expiry and organization within supply stocking areas for both stock and non-stock items via handheld or desktop technology in accordance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.

  • Makes recommendations to improve processes, minimize waste and improve inventory control.

  • Follows internal supply chain processes including New Item Add, recalls, substitutes, trials, vendor management etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with some computer knowledge, typing ability and good communications skills.

  • Approximately six (6) months previous experience in a warehouse or stock department or requisitioning, ordering, or receiving supplies environment in order to gain a working knowledge of the operations and procedures.
