Job Description

Position Title : Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Department: Administration

Reports To: President/CEO Classification: Salaried Exempt

OSHA CATEGORY:

#3 - Employees that perform tasks that involve no exposure, but may require unplanned Category 1tasks as a condition of employment.

POSITION SCOPE:

Administers, directs and integrates all day-to-day activities of the Skilled Nursing Facility and oversees operations in accordance with the mission and objectives of the organization as set forth by the Board of Directors. These include maintaining the highest possible quality of care with emphasis on maximizing the health and wellbeing of every resident. Performs all duties needed to ensure efficient and effective operations that comply with all Federal and State rules and regulations. Directly supervises all Skilled Nursing Facility department directors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers and is responsible for all phases of St. Luke Residential Health Care Facility.

  • Directs all department heads/directors in their responsibilities of duties. Supervises and executes duties and responsibilities.

  • Protects and ensures the rights of all residents.

  • Confers with professional and ancillary groups or individuals involved with skilled nursing facility operation.

  • Overall knowledge of skilled nursing facility operation including administrative, personal care/nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, social services, dietary and all other auxiliary services.

  • Responsible for the employment of competent personnel to carry out and assign duties.

  • Reviews reports from department directors on statistical summaries, activities and special areas of concern, and ensures that action is taken to correct any negative trends.

  • Assists in the establishment, interpretation, and enforcement of all facility policies of residents and employees.

  • Encourages cooperation, coordination, and harmonious relations between departments.

  • Provides administrative representation, counsel and communication to all applicable committees and task forces within the facility and community.

  • Participates in resident policy, development and coordination with the resident council.

  • Prepares and submits for approval the Nursing Home’s annual goals, operational budget and capital expenditures budget.

  • Maintains compliance with approved budgets, and takes immediate action to correct if needed.

  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs as required for retention of nursing home administrator's license.

  • Ensures compliance with all Human Resources policies and promotes a positive employee relations climate.

  • All other related duties as requested by the President/CEO.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Management or other related are preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

  • Must be licensed by New York State Department of Health, Board of Examiners Nursing Home Administrators.
