G.W. Lisk Company Waste Treatment Technician in Clifton Springs, New York

Overview

Responsible for operating the Wastewater Pretreatment System (WWTS). The candidate must be able toaccuratelyfollowwritten procedures, written and verbal instructions, make-up required chemistry for the WWTS and all Plating and Metal Finishing solutions.

Shift: 1 st 5:30 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Responsibilities

Operate Waste Water Pre-Treatment System (WI3117)

  • Maintain WWTS chemistry

  • Calibrate all WWTS probes and meters

  • Maintain and dehydrate F006 sludge

  • Perform batch chemical treatments as necessary

  • Maintain all WWTS and Plating pumps and equipment

  • Operate Evaporator

  • Maintain daily WWTS records

  • Complete EO and Dept 15 Plating PM’s as assigned

  • Assist with inventory, requisition, receipt, deliveries and storage of all chemicals

  • Ready wastes for shipments, including Age Controlled Lab Packs

  • Provide Chemical support to GWL facilities

  • Member of HAZMAT Team

  • Member of Emergency Response Team ESRP 21.01.02

  • Assist to maintain chemical storage and safety (Chemical Storage Procedure)

  • Refill solvent containers as needed/daily

  • Maintain EN and Nickel Strip and strip EN and Nickel as required

  • Conduct periodic RCRA Inspections including used batteries and aerosol can recycling and maintenance

Qualifications

Successful candidate must be a team-oriented person with good communication skills and must be able to excel at:

  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be able to communicate verbally, read and write in English

  • Show high level of job-related knowledge within 6 months in position

  • Accurately interpret WWTS procedures and work instructions

  • Provide feedback on issues and changes

  • Demonstrates good communication and listening skills

  • Is dependable and follows set attendance policies

  • Be aware of surrounding area to maintain safe and organized environment

  • Work in team setting to complete multiple task and goals as assigned

  • Participate and provide input on how to improve WWTS operations

  • Shows good communication, listening and teamwork within Plating and all GW Lisk departments

  • Reliability to make it to work as scheduled and maintain great attendance

  • Self-driven, motivated, individual that want to contribute to the team and make an impact

  • Willingness and ability to learn and share knowledge with others

  • Strong attention to detail, team player and positive attitude

  • Must be able to stand, walk on uneven surfaces, bend, twist, reach overhead and climb stairs

  • Must have visual acuity to see computer screens and other essential components of the job

  • Must have adequate hearing to safely observe emergency announcement, communicate effectively in person and over the phone and observe any change in equipment sounds

  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds in certain jobs, frequencies can vary

  • Willingness to work in a production work environment which requires supplied chemical resistant work clothes and personal protective

Preferred Skills:

  • Some chemistry background

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Strong math skills

  • Good organizational skills

  • Tow Motor Operator or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or 2-3 years of Waste Treatment experience

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Ability to wear company supplied required work uniforms, safety glasses, gloves, apron and other PPE as required or directed

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is a fast-paced captive metal finishing manufacturing shop. A variety of chemical baths are used in Dept 15 Plating on a daily basis and proper care and focus must be taken to ensure safety.

Compensation: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience
