Overview

Responsible for assembly of small or medium sized parts, fitting and/or adjustment of interrelated parts and/or assembly, adjustment and repair of subassemblies and major assemblies. May involve mechanical, optical and electrical/electronic operations. Requires use of wide range of hand and power tools, electrical or mechanical fixtures and gauges, standard measuring devices such as dial indicators, micrometers or voltmeters, drills, jigs, fixtures and light materials. Responsible for inspection and testing of own work and work of others. Job complexity ranges from simple, highly repetitive tasks to fairly repetitive but difficult tasks as incumbents experience increases.

Responsibilities

Assemble parts:

  • Responsible for production assembly of components, fitting, and/or adjustment of interrelated parts.

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, positioning of part for assembly of several parts.

  • Accurately and efficiently assembles/tests a variety of moderately complex products to achieve customer quality and on-time delivery schedules.

  • May perform coil winding, soldering, first stage sub assembly, and final detailing functions.

  • Works on products that contain mechanical components, single hydraulic systems, and multiple part numbers.

  • Actively contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Testing of parts:

  • Identification of quality issues is important

  • Read and interpret orders and work instructions

  • Use appropriate assembly drawings, layouts to perform work.

  • Must identify and work on high precision products as required.

  • Perform other miscellaneous work as assigned.

  • Evaluate and communicate lean opportunities within assigned processes.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ year’s experience in a manufacturing environment

Able to read simple drawings: use scale, calipers and simple measuring instruments.

Work requires assembly of a wide variety of regular and special purpose parts.

Considerable judgment and decisions is needed to follow clearly defined standard work procedures and practices.

Compensation: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience
