About this role:

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC’s business through the designing of advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills. You will solve complex problems, provide input on new products and processes, and coach, review, and delegate work to less experienced engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and program advanced building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.

  • Develop and mentor other Controls Engineers.

  • Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.

  • Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.

  • Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.

  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.

  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.

  • Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.

  • Support of functional testing for complex building systems.

  • Provide input and advise others on design and programming standards, to include parts and practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of HVAC controls industry experience OR Associate Degree with 8+ years of HVAC controls industry experience OR High School Diploma or GED and 10+ years of HVAC controls industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in an Engineering or Construction discipline.

  • Experience in HVAC controls or related industry.

  • Proficient with advanced functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools, Automated Logic suites preferred.

  • Advance working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.

  • Proficient in third-party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.

  • Knowledge with Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio, or similar software.

  • Experience with advanced written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of

  • systems.

  • Able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Provide guidance and direction to other team members.

  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
