Position Summary As a Software Test Engineer, you will design, develop, and execute software verification tests for various STERIS platforms, systems, and equipment! This is role is considered Hybrid, with the requirement of working onsite at our Mentor, OH Headquarters 3 days per week. What will you do as a Software Test Engineer? You will play a critical role in analyzing software requirements and design specs for testability while developing, analyzing software requirements and design specifications for testability. You will develop functional, integration, interface, and unit tests for software applications and firmware using knowledge of test methods, equipment, and platforms. In addition, you will work on the following but not limited to: Design, implement, debug, and executesoftware testson new and sustaining engineering projects. Create test scripts for automated verification tests. Work independently with minimal supervision on routine activities. Collaborateon unusual/complex issues and approval on plans and larger-scale designs. Participate in test reviews to identify issues and provide recommendations. Mentor more junior engineers to propagate good test design principles and practices. Investigate new test technologies and tools. Create software test process documentation to include verification plans, designs, and protocols. Perform unit, integration, and system testing and capacity / performance testing of applications. Document defects capturing steps to reproduce and information for debugging. Review test plans and designs with development engineers. Implement test automation initiatives. Identify and procures tools and technologies as appropriate for test designs and execution. Implement and maintaintest automation framework. Validate software test tools according to corporate procedures. Createautomated test procedures using appropriate scripting and tools to support project's needs. Collect data to generate metrics to assess test progress and software quality. Travel up to 10% (including international). What Skills, Abilities, and Experience is needed? Requires 1-3 years of progressive engineering experience in the development and verification of software and firmware systems. Bachelor in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. Experience performing software requirement analysis is required. Competent in scriptinglanguages such as Java, Python and Perl. Practical experience in C/C++ object-oriented analysis and programming, and multi-threaded/multi-tasking programming is desired. Experience with Agile Software Engineering & Project Management tools like Jira, Bitbucket, Zephyr or alternative tools is preferred Experience using Security Testing tools like Burp, SonarQube, Qualys is preferred. Experience working in medical device industry or other regulated industry is highly desirable. Experience with testing on multiple operating systems, which may include real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as RTXC, ThreadX, and QNX as well asLinux/Windowsis preferred. Experience in developing and executing unit, integration, and functional software tests. Knowledge of software development standards such as the IEEE series, IEC-62304, etc. is desired.
