Job ID 12652 Location Case Main Campus Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE Under moderate supervision, maintain hardware and software solutions for all server needs with a focus on the School of Medicine according to detailed procedures. Design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise storage system, VMware vCenter, Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux solutions, and enterprise MS SQL and MySQL database systems. This position requires a strong commitment and hands-on experience in Windows server operating systems, server-based applications, SQL server administration, multimedia and web programming techniques. This is a service-oriented position and requires communication skills to work closely with other members of [U]Tech and others within the schools in the resolution of end-user problems and to provide general support for faculty and staff. This position also requires responsibility for sensitive and confidential materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain and support all commercial and in-house server-based applications hosted, both on premise and in the cloud. (20%) Maintain the database backup schedule and availability for data recovery. (20%) Develop, update, and maintain appropriate security measures, backup, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data confidentiality and integrity. Utilize existing tools for patch management and intrusion detection as well as research new ways to mitigate vulnerabilities and exposure. (20%) Maintain the active directory structure for the School of Medicine. (10%) Maintain, support and repair all servers under the responsibility of the department. (10%) NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain and monitor high performance and uptime standards of the servers and application services, both on premise and in the cloud. (5%) Ensure that services in the school are provided in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. (5%) Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends in the server and cloud industry in order to advise on direction as well as improve and upgrade the information technology services in the school. (5%) Participate in training seminars or classes as assigned, such as Amazon Web Services, VMware, Redhat Linux and Microsoft certification coursework. ( Provide client training and support. ( CONTACTS Department: Frequent contact with direct supervisor, Director of School of Medicine IT Support and Manager of Application Development; working as a team to develop and implement solutions as well as resolve issues as they arise. Moderate contact with various faculty, staff and students in administrative offices and research departments of the School of Medicine to ensure that deployed technology is effectively supporting the faculty, staff and students. Moderate contact with other Cloud Services engineers, moderate contact with staff within IT in order to provide guidance for projects, assistance during implementation, or help during on-going operations. Moderate contact with the Information Security team to resolve possible security threats and be proactive about preventing intrusion and data loss. University: Occasional contact with faculty and staff in the schools to assess server, storage and security issues.
