Job ID 12561 Location Case Main Campus Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE The Senior Financial Analyst will support executive decision making by contributing to the development and maintenance of accurate, dynamic financial analyses and planning models using Hyperion PBCS, assembling, and tracking the university operating and capital budgets, and being the point person for the Hyperion PBCS Planning and Reporting function. Research and develop requirements for enhancements to existing database systems and data analytics software applications/visualizations, including improvements to data pipelines, data management, and data governance. Provide advanced support for business management, university leadership, and other data end users in the form of synthesized insights drawn from statistical and visual analysis of university data assets for improved business efficiency and decision-making at all levels of the organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop in-depth understanding of the finances of a portfolio of schools and administrative departments, as assigned, and identify and track budget anomalies or other related financial issues related. Serve as a data and reporting resource for financial areas to the schools/ departments. Perform preliminary troubleshooting, analysis and triage of issues and problems. Perform analysis of financial metrics, data and activity and prepare standard and ad hoc monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Recommend new metrics/reports. Perform analysis of relevant financial metrics to identify and disseminate trends in key data which could impact business unit and/or enterprise level financial planning. Act as a key contact for the delivery, maintenance, and improvement of workforce planning reports; generate reports as requested. (15%) Develop/maintain expert knowledge of the Hyperion PBCS planning and reporting system and support/train others in its use. Maintain the reporting package in Hyperion PBCS, becoming an efficient report writer and power user of the Ad Hoc reporting function. Responsible for design, development, and maintenance of advanced analytics projects for internal clients across campus. Analyze and make recommendations on how to make data pipelines for efficient access for analytics and end users. Test and validate data models and visualizations in collaboration with business analysts and customers. Diagnose and correct problems with data visualizations, data pipelines, and data quality. (15%) Write programs to extract, translate, load, and verify data. Combine challenging datasets, including large amounts of data to extract meaningful insights. Extract data from university systems and use spreadsheets, database tools, and other techniques to perform analyses and develop statistical reporting on university financial data. (15%) Serve as a customer service representative to financial and other administrative personnel in the various schools and administrative departments of the university and act as a resource to the departments on budgeting and forecasting matters. Suggest new policies, processes and reporting tools and training for new staff members within the departments. (15%) Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, and in the development of updated monthly and quarterly budget-to actual forecasts to ensure conformance to budgetary limits.
