MetroHealth RN Coordinator Perioperative Scheduling- Operating Room Main Campus in CLEVELAND, Ohio

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 7-3:30p/8-4:30p/ 9-5:30p

Summary:

Responsible for performing scheduling of all surgical cases using clinical expertise for operating room sites including, Main Campus and Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Works with the surgeons and surgical support staff to ensure appropriate site scheduling of outpatient elective procedures. Notifies Surgical Administrative staff and Physicians of available operating room capacity by site and hours. Coordinates schedule with site Charge Nurses as well as Anesthesia staff regarding case order and room assignments using clinical nursing judgment. Serves as primary contact to surgical patients for all pre and post-procedure instructions and questions. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System. .

Qualifications:

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation), BSN degree. Current registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire. Relevant experience in procedural scheduling, medical billing, coding and medical terminology. At least three years of Operating Room experience including evidence of progressive experience in the coordination of an OR schedule. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Must Have: a. A thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice, including basic knowledge relating to nursing such as biological, physical, psychosocial, and medical sciences and their applications. b. A thorough knowledge of the use and care of instruments, equipment and supplies related to nursing service or ambulatory medical practice. c. A thorough knowledge of the theory and principles of medical asepsis. d. The ability to maintain positive working relations with other employees and medical staff. e. A high degree of physical coordination and finger-hand dexterity. f. Professional communication skills.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
