Accountant

Full time perm role/ Direct hire with the client

Location: Cleveland OH (Hybrid -onsite and remote)

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include acting as General Accountant, as well as other duties to assist in the smooth operation of the Accounting Department.

• Monthly closing responsibilities for an assigned portfolio;

• Prepare bank and GL reconciliations;

• Prepare OPEX reconciliations and estimates;

• Investigates, verifies and reconciles all general ledger accounts on assigned property trial balances with subledgers and/or appropriate support schedules;

• Working with lenders to ensure proper payment and accurate reporting;

• For assigned properties, research and answer questions from property operations, lenders, regulators, or investors;

• Substantiate general ledger transactions by providing proper supporting documentation;

• Verify and analyze business records such as leases or contracts to understand the obligations of the entity and take ownership for the properties’ business level activities;

• For assigned properties, review property trial balances and financial statements for accounting inaccuracies and prepare correcting journal entries as needed;

• Work with property operations to prepare actual-to-budget variance analysis including footnotes to the monthly financial reporting package for senior management, lenders, regulators, and investors;

• Prepare audit packages to be submitted to the 3rd party CPA firms;

• Respond to audit inquiries and requests for additional information;

• For assigned properties, assist in the preparation of annual budgets working with Property Operations and the Financial Planning & Analysis Department;

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 1 + years’ experience as an accountant

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office – Excel; Adobe)

• Experience handling multiple bank accounts

• MRI experience necessary

• Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
