Description Position Summary The Operations Coordinator of Pharmacy Services is a pharmacist leadership role that has responsibility for the development, prioritization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of pharmacy operations and processes. The Operations Coordinator will provide oversight, support, and evaluation of pharmacy operations and will advocate for the rational use of medications through process development, education, committee assignment, and staff development activities. The Operations Coordinator will maintain administrative responsibilities while providing ad hoc coverage in the staff pharmacist duties. In the event the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Manager are not available, the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator addresses all emergent personnel and operational issues. Essential Functions Direct collaboration with pharmacy leadership team and medication safety officer Develop professional relationships with physician and nursing staff to deliver optimal patient care Maintain competency of all pharmacy areas for coordinator cross training and coverage Ensure administrative duties delegated by the manager or director of pediatric pharmacy services are accurately and promptly completed Perform approved duties of the pharmacy management team in case of absence Observe and correct aseptic technique and compounding practices Perform computer order entry in an accurate and timely manner Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner Assist and collaborate with pharmacy leadership on developing and implementing new processes Identify and respond to shifts in use patterns to minimize waste and maximize productivity Promote continuous development and improvement of compounding practices, process and product research, and evaluation/implementation of new technologies Assure patient safety through clinical, pharmaceutical, operational, and regulatory knowledge of non-sterile and sterile products and clean rooms The coordinator is trained in a variety of compounding procedures and environments from basic aseptic manipulations, complex sterile-to-sterile compounding, batch processes, and high risk compounding and hazardous drug compounding Required For All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned.
