Cleveland Clinic Mechanical Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of world-class professionals as you help design, develop and maintain 40 million square feet of real estate across three continents. Some of your primary duties include:

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates planned facility acquisitions for infrastructure operation and management issues.

  • Oversees infrastructure components of planning and design.

  • Assists in resolving issues during construction ensuring codes, plans and standards are followed.

  • Performs engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing building and systems and provides engineering support in the disposal of buildings and systems.

  • Maintains, updates, and is the authority for the Cleveland Clinic Mechanical Standards and federal, state and locals codes and regulations.

  • Keeps abreast of new technologies in the mechanical engineering field, federal, state and local codes and regulations, environmental concerns and other issues, which may affect mechanical systems.

  • Develops, bids and supervises the execution of facility repair projects to support the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.

  • Performs engineering studies and assessments.

  • Prepares reports and delivers presentations to Facilities Management and internal clients.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution.

Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years Mechanical design and/or operation experience in an industrial, commercial, or institutional facility required; a minimum of three years of Health Care Mechanical design and/or operations experience or Project Management experience including coordinating maintenance, renovation and construction projects preferred.

  • Prior experience with medical gas requirements, ASHRAE application in a Hospital setting, and health care fire and life safety codes and regulations preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

  • Must be able to work with coworkers, interdepartmental teams, and organizational leadership across the enterprise to effectively complete job requests.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods*

  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time*

  • Ability to travel throughout the Cleveland Clinic health system*

  • Ability to travel to locations outside of the Cleveland Clinic health system*

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment*

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information*

  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 25 pounds (lbs.)*

  • Ability to inspect construction and renovation sites*

  • Climbing of ladders and scaffolding is required

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $44.53

Maximum hourly: $67.92

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
