The opportunity

The Industry Group Finance Advisor Assistant Director is a member of a mixed rank team that provides finanical support for various Industry Group Leaders and intersects with Service Line Finance Leadership. The IGFA Assistant Director will be assigned to an IG whose business is less complex and/or volume of requests/needs is less relative to other IGs. The role will support leadership in identifying and effectively communicating market and related financial trends and the expected impact on results through use of Innovation and Analytics tools. The IGFA will support more accurate forecasting by engaging the Sectors and Accounts and Finance community to capture complete and timely pipeline and wins data, and advise on trends. The IGFA will collaborate with SL Finance Leaders to inform on demand side trends, which will enable SLs to understand impact on operational P&Ls. The IGFA will work closely with IG Leader to target optimal financial performance, supporting balance of robust profitable growth, through goal setting, strategic planning and action plans for achievement. IGFA will work closely with the IG Leader to identify investment opportunites and monitor return on investment. The IGFA will work closely with IG Leader, IG Markets Strategy &Operations Leaders and CFO to support Industry specific financial performance requirements, including revenue planning. There will also be collaboration with other IGFA Associate Directors to create best practices.

Your key responsibilities

  • Provide industry financial trend insights, with highlights around macro-economic trends and specific impacts of EY client base.

  • Interpret industry financial trends and data to be used in advising strategic planning and forcasting.

  • Facilitate the connection between Industry Market trends (demand) and outlook with Service Line (supply side).

  • Engage with industry group partner community to drive timely and complete inputs into firm tools to allow for better forecasting and decision making based on accurate data.

  • Establish guidance for healthy profitable growth, along with Industry Group Leaders, that is reflective of industry, client, and service offerings.

  • Identify and challenge investment opportunities – specific client based or service offering – to support long term strategic growth.

  • Monitor planned performance and highlight for leadership deviations. Work collaboratively and proactively with IG Leader to develop corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with Reporting and Analytics to optimize data usage and accuracy, including from newer tools such as Dynamics.

  • Team with other support functions, in particular BD, to enable seamless service to markets leaders Identifying trends and interpreting the impact they will have on future results.

  • Analyzing data to determine what it indicates for future results.

  • Form and communicate a crisp view from analysis and communicate to IG Leader to support informed decision making.

  • Demonstrates effective executive presence that can influence and advise leadership.

  • Understanding of the industry.

  • Teams with finance colleagues and other functions to enhance service to clients, and to leverage leading practices.

  • While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, critical to success will be teaming and collaborating with a large number of colleagues to enable effective and efficient client service at all times (e.g. SLfinance, business development, R&A, etc.),

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required to perform this position.

  • A strong understanding of the drivers of financial performance in a market facing professional services environment is essential.

  • An understanding of EY’s external services and of the area/regional markets landscape would be beneficial. EY experience is preferred.

  • Graduate and/or professional certification in a business-related subject matter (i.e. Accounting, Finance) or equivalent experience is required to perform this position.

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $103,700 to $193,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $124,400 to $220,400. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
