The Data Platform Manager is a key member of the Data Tools & Operations leadership team responsible for delivering stable, secure, and scalable data solutions which meet the technical and business requirements of data engineers, analysts, architects, and consumers across the enterprise. This role collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure & Operations, and Enterprise Data & Insights to define, prioritize, and execute technical roadmaps for managed data platforms. The Data Platform Manager establishes relationships with and ensures alignment across Digital Technology, business teams, and vendor partners. This role helps remove organizational blockers on behalf of the team. The Data Platform Manager sets development goals for individuals to ensure that all members are contributing to the broader goals of the organization. This role interfaces with a variety of business representatives and IT stakeholders. Enabling process improvement, staff development, and project management skills are essential. Essential Functions Strategy & Planning Collaborate with IT Leadership, engineers, and architects to create, promote, and execute a shared vision and roadmap for Data Technology platforms. Collaborate with Data Technology partners on aligning priorities to remove blockers to team velocity. Meet with clients, peers, and decision makers to understand goals and resolve conflicts. Ensure tracking and management of strategies and plans is in alignment with organizational objectives; provide visibility to these plans. Facilitate and oversee team goals. Ensure a plan is in place for key individuals and specific skillsets to ensure that sufficient staff depth is in place to meet the needs of the business. Be an advocate for change. Acquisition and Deployment Determine staffing needs and skill requirements within teams. Acquire and retain qualified and productive talent. Request and allocate resources based on project requirements and availability. Generate and provide status updates to stakeholders upon request. Facilitate meetings and follow-up with resulting action items. Track and escalate risks and issues. Develop business case justification for training and operating needs. Operational Management Provide efficient communication and decision-support to stakeholders. Direct, delegate, empower, and motivate staff to successfully accomplish objectives, meet responsibilities, and complete tasks. Create and maintain development plans for each direct report, including training, skills assessment, career planning, and goal planning. Conduct activities such as staffing, performance and resource management, and strategic direction of the team. Set employee objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide feedback and mentoring. Define and track metrics pertinent to team and individual goals. Performs activities in support of a 24x7 global support model for critical production environments as required.
