Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Category Buyer. The position is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process, including strategy creation and implementation, supplier identification and qualification, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management. This position will work at one of the following locations: Corporate Headquarters in Cleveland, OH, West Chester, OH or Burns Harbor, IN. The Category Buyer will be the company's subject matter expert regarding assigned categories, including Waste Disposal and Handling, Environmental, Safety PPE and Supplies, and similar commodity categories. Summary of Responsibilities: Maintain full ownership of suppliers within the commodities assigned including pricing, quality, and performance. Develop a thorough understanding of commodity dynamics, market structures, supply constraints, competitive forces, and cost drivers of assigned categories. Execute organization-wide commodity strategies that deliver cost effective solutions as measured by total cost of ownership and cost per ton impact. Identify and recommend sourcing opportunities and qualify alternate supply sources. Negotiate, implement, and manage supply agreements. Review assigned incoming requisitions and determine the best buying method. Follow department policies and procedures and participate in activities to continuously improve department workflow. Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Department Managers as well as peers from the supply organizations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 4 years' experience in Procurement, Environmental or Operations. Demonstrated analytical aptitude, strong communication and negotiation skills (verbal and written), and attention to detail. Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and communicate across multiple business units to achieve set goals. Self-motivated with the ability to manage change.
