Crew Leader

  1. Lead By Example

  2. Manage Outside Operator workload.

  3. Limit the amount of time and frequency that outside operators are taking breaks. Do not allow them to sit in the control room for long periods of time. There is always something that needs to be done in the plant.

  4. Insure that all process rounds are being performed.

  5. Insure all appropriate paperwork is being filled out.

  6. Keep your work area clean at all times

Process control

  1. Log appropriate events in the log book

  2. Always monitor the control system screens and trends for potential process issues.

  3. Your position is to be in the Control Room; however, you are also to regularly walk through the process area, tank farms, and waste water area to look for problems that the outside operator may not see. Walkthroughs should not take more than a few minutes at a time.

  4. Help your outside operators during heavy work periods but limit the amount of time that you are away from the control screens.

Safety

  1. Insure that your crew is following safety rules such as PPE, Safety Harnesses, Chemical suits etc.

  2. Lead the daily safety topic that is included on the turnover sheet at the beginning of every shift. In order to make it easier a folder with safety topics is available.

  3. When performing walkthrough’s observe the area and your outside operators and look for potential hazards
